Now I am wondering whether there is a connection.<\/p>\n<p>Could it be a coincidence that two of the best vegetarian restaurants in New York City both close, after many years in business, on exactly the same day?  Or is it just that August 30 is a common &#8220;last day of lease&#8221; date, and that both establishments happened to get caught up in the same general rent spike?<\/p>\n<p>I am suddenly feeling very protective of our city&#8217;s remaining veggie restaurants.  On the one hand, there are still a lot of them left here.
