But more recently I see that it is referring to &#8220;Cross Reality&#8221;. The general idea, as I understand it, is that Cross Reality is an overarching term that describes all of the possible ways to &#8220;cross&#8221; things that are virtual (like computer graphics) together with things that are real (like physical objects and other people).<\/p>\n<p>So the term Cross Reality, or XR, is meant to encompass Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR). I can see how it is useful to have a single term to talk about the entire larger topic.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, the word &#8220;cross&#8221; itself has multiple meanings, which can lead to some confusion.
