Dark times indeed.<br \/>\nThere were rumors, omens, murmurings just<br \/>\nunder the surface.  It was the end of<br \/>\nsomething we had all believed would<br \/>\nnever end, and the beginning of a<br \/>\ntime we had known only in our dreams.<\/p>\n<p>The thousand year wait had begun,<br \/>\nthe march of countless armies against<br \/>\na foe beyond imagining.<\/p>\n<p>The fortress had given way, that<br \/>\ncitadel they had said would outlive<br \/>\nus all, when only those who<br \/>\nhad held the door against our foe<br \/>\ncould bear to speak its name.<\/p>\n<p>I met you before the war, but we<br \/>\nwere children then.  Time and its<br \/>\nravages have changed us.  I bear<br \/>\nthe mark, that same mark you know<br \/>\nonly too well.<\/p>\n<p>In a way it is our badge of honor,<br \/>\nthat was meant to be a badge of shame.<br \/>\nYes I hold my head high, and stand<br \/>\nbefore the gloaming night, in<br \/>\nthe fierce time of watching.
