“You know,” she said brightly, “sometimes unexpected rhythmic variations can help a collaboration.”<\/p>\n
He smiled ruefully, “A collaboration is kind of like a relationship.”<\/p>\n
“You’re not going to start talking about sharks, are you?”<\/p>\n
“No,” he laughed, “I was just going to say that in the long run, both benefit from honesty.”<\/p>\n
“True,” she nodded. “Oh dear, it appears we have arrived at the subway.”<\/p>\n
They looked at each other for a long moment.<\/p>\n
“I had a good time,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Me too.” she smiled. “Perhaps we will write this musical.” They hugged, then she turned toward the subway entrance and was gone.<\/p>\n
He stood for a long moment, gazing at the space where she had been, feeling the silence of the city around him.<\/p>\n
