Today the administration laid off many people who work for the National Science Foundation. So at least for now, the essential business of funding scientific research in the United States might be grinding to a halt.
This is not just potentially devastating for the U.S. economy. It’s also a potential economic windfall to any rival nation states out there who would love to pull ahead of us as the world leader in science and technology.
So essentially, this mostly benefits China. Well, actually, it also benefits any billionaire tech entrepreneurs who might be working on business deals with China.
