On a cold day in New York

Even on a cold day like today in New York, even when I have just spent a week in a delightful little European town, with enchanting Italian scenery, fine wine and brilliant company, it is good to be home, back in Manhattan, in all of its crazy madcap nonstop wonderfulness.

The swirling crowds that sweep you along, the fire in the eyes of people always on the go, the pervasive sense of urgency that practically bubbles up through the pavement, it all just fills my soul with joy.

I know that New York is not for everybody. But for some of us, it is heaven.

  1. In spite I am a European and I have only been in New York once, I know what you mean.
The very best pictures of New York in mind are those when I took the cab to Manhattan in the morning to attend my meetings. One could feel this wonderful power, even if I only got forward in walking pace. 🙂
And I believe there is no better place to be at the end of your working day and have a drink in a bar where you have never been before and you don’t know anybody, enjoying the feeling of being foreign and at home at the same time.
Some pictures are just burned to your soul…

  2. Hmmmm, yes deeply empathize. I miss NYC terribly. Perhaps eventually, after some years, I will feel the same about Paris too. For now, I have a trip planned for NEXT November and literally think about it every single day!
